These are photos of a scooter built by my son, Robert Douglas
Book, using a model 92 Maytag which he restored. The engine is
controlled by tightening the belt by the idler pulley shown in the
right hand view, with the foot controlled pedal shown in the left
hand view.
Braking is done by a drum and external band on the idler shaft
and controlled by the hand lever on the handlebar.
It’s great fun to ride around engine shows!
