The year 1996 was a very big one for the Spark Plug Collectors
of America, as it not only marked the first year under the new
leadership of Chad Windham of Pendleton, Oregon, but it also saw
the completion of the club’s new convention centera dream that
was only made possible with a grant from longtime member Jim Welty
and his family in Fairborn, Ohio. The 28′ x 40′ building,
located at the Jay County Fairgrounds in Portland, Indiana, will be
a welcome addition to the club for years to come.
The dates and locations for the 1997 meetings of the Spark Plug
Collectors of America will be as follows:
The Midwest Regional Meeting will be Saturday, April 26, 10:00
a.m. at LeSueur, Minnesota, in conjunction with the Gas Engine and
Tractor Swap Meet sponsored by the LeSueur County Pioneer Power
Association. The meeting will be on the club’s showgrounds
located six miles east of LeSueur on County Road 26. This is a new
meeting site, and we encourage everyone to attend. A benefit spark
plug auction will follow the meeting.
The National-International Convention will be held Friday,
August 22, at the Jay County Fairgrounds, in Port-land, Indiana, in
conjunction with the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Show. The

convention center, located on the east side of the fairgrounds. The
