After your article on Worthington, I decided to seriously pursue
one I’d known about for 35 years! It’s missing a rear
wheel, the 4 cylinder Model B engine and tranny, the 33 Ford truck
radiator and shell and gas tank. However, it’s unique enough
that I feel it should be restored. Worthington was certainly proud
of its name and either cast it in everything or slapped a name tag
on. Photo 1 shows the wheel I need. It bolted to the standard
5-hole Ford brake drum.
Photo 2 shows my adaptation of a 1920 Briggs Motor-Wheel to my,
‘Skeeter.’ Riding it is like riding a banana peel. With me
at the Ice Races is my friend ‘Mort,’ also an avid engine
collector, with his ’37 Norton ice racer. ,
Photo 3 shows the Miracle of America Museum’s Bantam Poynter
in original condition, including the bird-dog pointer decals. I
call this photo ‘Lookin’ for Traction,’ as the tractor
is hooked up to a 12-bottom Verity plow.
Photo 4 shows me on the Bantam Poynter next to a 28 HP
Minneapolis steamer which normally pulls the plow. These were the
big and little at the 1999 Northwest Antique Power Show, held at
Columbia Falls, Montana.
