Holiday greetings to all our readers! That includes all members
of the family who take their turn in reading GEM and
discussing what they find in it with each other and with fellow
collectors. May this be a merry season for you, with plenty of
love, warmth and good cheer.
December’s approach brings us closer to the time for
compilation of the 1986 Steam & Gas Show Directory. Please send
your free listings and paid ads in promptly, so that the thousands
of followers of this valuable little book will know who’s doing
what when and where. Make sure dates, addresses and telephone
numbers are correct.
Please note that we again have color illustrations inside the
magazine. We depend on our readers for good clear pictures, and we
do the rest. Subscribers tell us they like this additional
color.
In September, we visited the show of the Kansas and Oklahoma
Steam & Gas Engine Assn. at Winfield, Kan., and got some good
pictures, soon to appear in GEM. Margaret and I had a
wonderful time.
GEM is in its new headquarters at 356 West Orange Street in
Lancaster, Pa. The move by Stemgas Publishing Co. was necessary
because of the need for added space for both office personnel and
warehousing of books, catalogs, manuals and back issues.
The Rev. Elmer Ritzman founded Stemgas in 1946, and started GEM
in 1966 as a companion magazine to Iron-Men Album, which
is for steam people. Next year will mark GEM’s 20th
anniversary, and we deeply appreciate the interest of all who have
made our progress possible as America’s only magazine devoted
solely to antique tractor and stationary gas engine collectors and
restorers.
When shopping for gifts, don’t forget to look over our
catalog of publications. We are constantly adding to our list, and
most certainly there is something for everyone. Remember, too, a
gift subscription to GEM makes a fine present!
When you are in or near Lancaster, make it a point to stop in
and see us. Mean while here are best wishes from all our
staffers.
