We got a call the other day from Gerald Farmer, who lives in
Minnetonka, Minnesota. Seems that he has about sixty-five pounds
worth of GEMs from the 1980s and ’90s. Gerald would
like to give these to someone (preferably a new collector) who
would receive them collect via U.P.S. or else pick them up at his
house. Call if you’re interested at 612-474-6127.
By the time you get this magazine, you may already have received
your Show Directory package if you’re one of our ‘show
contacts.’ This should give you everything you need get your
show listed and advertised according to your instructions. We hope
that our contacts won’t be overly confused, as there is now a
third directory starting up, sponsored by our competitor, Farm
Collector. Our mailing will have the Stemgas name on it, so
you’ll know which one it is–the one you’ve used for the
last twenty-five years.
With so much attention on the internet and the new
‘e-commerce,’ I thought it might be a good idea to remind
our dedicated computer users to remember us, and the beauty of
recording stories and images for the long term, as well as current
use. For thirty-four years, this magazine has been a resource for
engine and tractor collectors. The internet can bring buyers and
sellers and queries and answers together in a matter of minutes,
and we are well aware of its impact. All the more reason to compile
the research and make a record of it in this magazine. So, if you
buy an old picture or book on E-bay instead in an old curio store,
it could still be the kernel for a story in GEM, and
we’d like to hear from you! And no one can be in front of the
computer at all times!
Time marches on, and so, surely does technology!
