When you read this letter, we will all be on the threshold of a
brand new year. Another opportunity to make resolutions and attempt
to keep them! One that would be a good idea is that we will strive
even harder not to make errors in print. Our apologies go out to
two collectors who were poorly treated in our November 1998 issue.
On pages 20 and 21 of that issue, we had a nice collection of
pictures from Floyd Schmall, taken at the EDGE&TA’s 1998
National Show in Chowchilla. At the bottom left of page 20, we
failed to identify the owner of the 1918 International Titan 10-20
as Ira Matheny. On page 21, the photo of Jon Feicht’s 1900 Doak
engine had a misspelling of his name. We apologize to both men, and
to Mr. Schmall, who provided the pictures. We certainly DON’T
like to make such errors and appreciate having them brought to our
attention.
December 15 is the deadline for our annual Steam and Gas Engine
Show Directory, and we hope that by the time you read this
you’ve already sent in the forms if it was your job to do so!
And if you have sent in the forms for your club, thank you
very much for your help!
Sometime in the next few weeks, those who are responsible for
placing show advertising in our magazines will receive their
packages of materials to guide you through the process in 1999. If
you have recently changed the ‘hats’ in your organization,
don’t hesitate to call and ask our advertising department to
whom the packages were sent, or to request another.
Warmest wishes for the Happiest of New Years.
