PUBLISHER’S LETTER

By Staff
Published on April 1, 1999

As I write this to you in mid-February, we’re enjoying a
balmy record-breaking day weatherwise, with temperatures expected
to reach into the high 60’s. Of course, this warmth will be
blown out of here by the weekend, when it’s back to more
seasonal temperatures. Nonetheless, the spring-like sunshine does
help me think ahead to the time when you’ll actually have this
issue in hand.

By then, those of you who’ve placed early orders for your
copy of the 1999 Steam & Gas Engine Show Directory should have
received the book. Isn’t it a stunner? Bigger than ever, with
more shows listed–what a way to celebrate a 25th anniversary
edition! If you haven’t ordered your copy yet, see the
advertisement at left for more information. The directory is a
valuable exhibiting and vacation-planning tool, and no one should
be without.

With show season approaching (actually, already started in many
parts of the country), we remind you to think ‘safety
first,’ both for yourselves and for others. As the hobby grows,
a lot of new folks are coming out to see what these marvels of old
iron are all about, and many of the newcomers don’t know that
you’re not supposed to stand too close or stick your fingers
into certain places–you as an exhibitor have to set the
boundaries. I know it’s April, but let’s not be
foolish!
