WILLIAM RAYMOND ‘BILL’ CLINE, 56, Mexico, Missouri, died
unexpectedly Saturday, June 7, 1997, while working north of
Mexico.
Mr. Cline had lived in the Molino area all his life. He was born
February 28, 1941, at Mexico, a son of Clarence Eugene
‘Gene’ and Kathryn Bernice Wilson Cline. On June 15, 1963,
he married Mary K. Miller, who survives at home.
He is also survived by his father; two daughters, Resa Schutte
of Benton City and Gina Broadus of Columbia; three grandsons; one
brother, Robert Wayne ‘Bob’ Cline of Mexico; and two
sisters, Betty Jo Gaines of Mexico and Zelma Ann Cline-Beck of
Bremerton, Washington.
Mr. Cline had previously farmed, and was the owner and operator
of a sawmill in Molino for 20 years. For the past six months, he
had been a heavy equipment operator.
In loving memory of CHARLES (CHARLIE) HOLMES, born October 26,
1918 in Fairbury, Nebraska. He passed away August 21, 1997, in
Mariposa, California.
He first married Jeanette, and they had two sons, Charles Jr. of
Woodland Hills, California and Michael of Willits, California.
Jeanette passed away in June 1971.
He then married Jean Phillips of Mariposa and acquired two more
sons, Emmett and Don Jr., both of Mariposa. He is survived by 10
grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Dad was a peace officer all of his adult life, beginning with
being a military policeman in the Army during WWII. After that he
joined the Hawthorne Police Department and retired from the Los
Angeles Police Department in 1964. After moving to Mariposa he
joined the Sheriffs Department and served as deputy for eight
years. He also served for a year as a US Marshall.
His love for old engines and generators began about 1980 when he
found and restored a 3 HP George B. Miller. Since his first one he
probably owned and sold some 50 engines and generators.
He ‘hooked’ me on the hobby and I acquired two 1
HP Gilsons from him, plus a WWII generator. The engine he had left
when he passed away was his George B. Miller.
Dad and his stories will be greatly missed by all who knew
him.
Submitted by his son, Mike Holmes, 233 Bonnie Lane. Willits,
California 95490.
