Judging from the response we have had to our 1986 Steam &
Gas Show Directory, this will indeed be the most successful year
yet for all the organizations and individuals who collect and show
stationary gas engines and antique tractors.
We wish you the best and hope our staff members and
representatives will carry the message in person.
The Directory, which is now available, has a pair of excellent
color covers, and contains the listings of 476 shows the largest
number ever. These shows are conducted throughout the U.S. and
Canada and in some other countries. If you ordered in advance, your
copy should be arriving any day; if you have not ordered, we
suggest you do so now to stay fully informed.
Some of the articles in this issue have an unusual touch to
them. One, on Linn tractors, is written by C. H. Wendel, who writes
our Reflections column. Another is on a hay press, and a third is a
Reid Company history.
We note that ‘one story leads to another’. Some of the
articles we are receiving are in response to articles that appeared
earlier. We like that. There is a bond of readership and writership
which connects all our good subscribers.
If you have a farm museum that you think we don’t know
about, we’d like to hear from you. We are trying to spread the
word on museums of this kind, because of the increased interest
everywhere in matters connected with farming.
