Regarding the Wolverine article in the May 2005 issue, the
catalog depicted is certainly a rare and most interesting find,
since it clearly shows many details of these early and remarkable
engines. The history of the company is, in fact, not as mysterious
as the article suggests. The story of what became of the original
Wolverine company, its sale and its removal to Connecticut, are
told in Beautiful Engines, Treasures of the Internal Combustion
Century
. (Available from Gas Engine Magazine.) The
Wolverine diesel shown in the book was the subject of a magnificent
restoration by the late Larry Mahan.
