Regarding Watermelon Threshing? in the December 2004
GEM: The watermelon thresher is actually a grinder to
remove the seeds from watermelon, pumpkins, tomatoes, cucumbers,
etc.

The Ferry Morris Co. of Grasslake, Mich., had lots of these
grinders. Some of the grinders were for big seeds and others for
small seeds.

I can’t remember how the grinder worked – I was small, but big
enough to pick tomatoes to run through it. They used these grinders
into the mid-1940s.
