Everyone has a preference. If it is interesting at a show, it is
right.

I show a 1914 Gray 1-3/4 HP, as was done in a shade-tree
restoration. Next is a 1913 Witte restored by me, but painted pink
for laughs (as shown in Gas Engine Magazine in April
1990). I get so many comments and people still remember the
article, so I leave it as is. Also, on my dairy display trailer, I
have a 1910 Aermotor, 8-cycle, barn-fresh, but runs good.
Spectators seem to enjoy all three examples. If it ain’t broke,
don’t fix it.
