Rusty Hopper, concerning coils and points: Did anyone ever
notice the roll of tin foil in the Ford Model T coils laying in the
flea market, busted open? Most all “old” mechanics know to check
condensers. Most all older car and lawn mower points kits came with
a condenser and capsule of dielectric grease, which helps you
realize how much the condenser was needed. Some turn of the century
engines’ instructions included daily cleaning of points, when 6
volts was standard.
