On page 5 of the January 2005 issue, query 40/1/5 in Flywheel
Forum, there was a request for information on a 6 HP Bean engine,
serial no. 2259. I have some original shipping information on these
engines, and it shows that this engine was shipped to Hubbard Bros.
of Medford, Ore., sometime during 1924 or 1925.
Some of the Bean engines were built here in San Jose, Calif.,
and some in Lansing, Mich. I had a friend who worked for
Fairbanks-Morse Co. and Bean Spray Pump Co., which is a division of
FMC. He was a dumpsite plucker, and he found some Bean literature
one evening, which he gave to me because he knew I was interested
in old engines, especially engines built in San Jose. I have a Bean
book that contains some shipping information on the engines built
in San Jose, plus I have three different instruction manuals.
