Winners

The summer shows of 2005 are settling into memory, and among
those memories is the annual Old Threshers Reunion at Mt. Pleasant,
Iowa, held this year as it always is over the five-day Labor Day
weekend.

Mt. Pleasant was a big show for Gas Engine Magazine,
because along with sister publications Farm Collector and
Steam Traction we were on hand as official sponsors,
positioned right across from the Mt. Pleasant show
headquarters.

In the process, we had the privilege of speaking with hundreds
of readers old and new, and to the last, every person we spoke with
had a fabulous time at the show, which seems to get bigger every
year.

Thanks to all who stopped by our tent to enter the drawings, and
to these advertisers for their generous donations!

So how big is it? How about an estimated 110,000 attendees over
the five days of the show, all there to soak in over 640 tractors,
80 steam traction engines (including scales) and 1,000 gas
engines.

It’s not the largest show in any single category of equipment,
but it is in terms of overall attendance, which says a lot about
the work that’s gone into making the show what it is.

We knew it’d be a great show, but I don’t think any of us here
at the magazine expected the huge response to the drawing we held
at Mt. Pleasant, where folks had a chance to sign up to win prizes
supplied by some of the great folks who advertise in our
magazines.

A top-load blast cabinet from TP Tools was the grand prize, and
there’s no question it was on the top of everyone’s list.

Of course only one person could win, and Mike Schulte,
Mediapolis, Iowa, was thrilled to discover he’d won the blast
cabinet. “You don’t have any idea what I think of your publication,
it’s just great,” Mike tells us.

Mike collects and restores tractors, and he likes all brands,
laying claim to owning Cases, John Deeres, Masseys, the works.

And will Mike use the cabinet? “I’ll use it, believe me. This is
just great!”

Well, we think so, too. And thanks to everyone for making us
feel at home. It was great.
