My grandfather is the very proud owner of an Ellis engine. He
has asked me to find any information about it on the Internet and I
have been unable to find anything that is relevant to what he is
looking for. The only thing we know for sure is that it was made in
Detroit by either the Gray Motor Co. or the Ellis Engine Co. The
engine is 1-1/2 HP, hopper-cooled with a horizontal cylinder.
I was curious if anyone has any information on the history or
design of the engine. Any text or suggestions on where to look
would be extremely helpful.
