More engines, more tractors, more displays, more spectators and
more fun is in store for you at the Third Annual SCRAP Show.
The Sandusky County Restorers of Antique Power (SCRAP) is
planning its third annual Antique Tractor and Engine Show, Labor
Day Weekend, August 31 through Sept 2. It will be held again this
year at the beautiful White Star Park, one mile south of
Gibsonburg, Ohio on State Route 300.
The 1990 show included 140 tractors, over 100 gas engines, one
steam engine, many antique trucks and cars, and seventeen teams of
horses and ponies that plowed everyday. The usual show activities
of shingle making, wheat threshing, baling, parades, Baker fan,
slow race and start up race kept exhibitors busy and spectators
happy.
Thirteen fiddlers and five banjo pickers captivated the audience
Sunday afternoon with their favorite tunes as they competed for top
prize. The Toy Show, was also held on Sunday, and drew dealers from
three states.
The consignment auction held on Labor Day gave opportunity to
change ownership of items we felt were not needed, for those we
just could not live without. The aroma of kettles and kettles of
caramel popcorn, ketchup, and apple butter cooking, filled the air
each day.
The 1991 show will feature ‘Standard Tread’ tractors, so
load ’em up and come join the fun. More good food will be
served by the Helena Volunteer Fire Department. Their famous Lake
Erie Perch sandwiches and homemade pies satisfy young and old
alike. We hope you’ll make plans to stop by and say hello.
