R 3, Box 304 hand, Minnesota 55040.

The Englund Family Threshing Show of Isanti, Minnesota holds a
free demonstration of ice cutting each year on January 1st.

The ice is stored in a building and packed in sawdust and used
for our threshing show in August.

The ice sawing machine was built in 1923 by Peter Englund with
the help of his 11 sons. The engine is a 1917 Maxwell and the saw
is a 36′. The family custom-cut ice for all the neighbors
before electricity and refrigeration was available.

On many days the temperature is 20° below zero, so it is a very
cold job!
