Amoco Lubricants is sponsoring the 1997 Tractor Restoration competition. Open to FFA members, the competition offers a total of $10,000 prize money at the national level.

The competition has two categories, Individual and Chapter entries. Each category offers a Grand Prize of $2,500. Also, in each category, the First Runner-up will receive $1,500 and the Second Runner-up will receive $1,000.

The goal for each individual or chapter entrant is to restore a vintage tractor to the condition it was in when it rolled off the assembly line.

State Competition First

All entries will be judged first at the state level. Judging will be based on five factors: mechanical factors in the restoration, appearance of the restored tractor, documentation of the restoration process, safety of the restored tractor, and performance on an oral review which evaluates the contestant’s knowledge of the restoration.

The top entries from each participating state will be entered in the national competition which takes place at the FFA National Convention to be held in Kansas City, Missouri, in November 1997.

Amoco, a leader in the development and manufacture of agricultural lubricants since 1889, is dedicated to providing the finest lubricants for all agricultural applications. Amoco strongly supports the FFA as it contributes to the development of the agricultural leaders of the future.
