The pictures on this page are of a rare Potter engine made in
1910. The engine was restored for a Dr. Valesh of Oewlein, Iowa, by
Edwin Mittelstadt of PO Box 9-57, Eldorado, Iowa 52175.
Middlestadt writes, ‘The engine was in fair shape when I
went and got it, I made new valves, put in new valve guides and
seats, made a new ignition set up for it, made a number of pieces
for the carburetor, also the linkage pins. This engine has two cam
gears and cams. It is throttle governored and runs real nice. Also
made new gas and water tanks, so I put in a couple of months of
steady work on it.’
Mittelstadt closes by saying that he is really proud of the
engine and of course, wishes it were his!
