The thirteenth annual show was held May 30 and 31, 1998 at the
Kempton, Pennsylvania, Community Center.
The featured tractor and equipment was Allis-Chalmers, with a
very good display by the owners of that brand. There was a total of
144 farm tractors, 22 garden tractors, five pedal tractors, 73
engines and 20 model engines on display. There were 139 antique
tractors (up to 1960) that hooked up to the tractor pull sled, plus
94 flea market spaces rented.
There were tractor parades, tractor games (both farm and garden
tractors), slow engine contests, teeter-totter balancing, plus
children’s activities with pedal pulls and KettKar events. The
club ladies had a successful bake sale, and various club
memorabilia was available.
The Pennsylvania Tractor Pullers Association also had pulls both
days, and with a track area that is wide enough there were two pull
sleds operating side by side on Saturday afternoon into early
evening on Saturday. A garden tractor pull had been scheduled for
Friday evening, but severe thunderstorms forced cancellation. The
weather cleared by Saturday morning, and spectators, exhibitors and
flea market vendors were able to enjoy sunshine for both Saturday
and Sunday.
The 1999 show is scheduled for June 5 and 6, at the Kempton
Community Center, located in Berks County, north of Interstate
78.
