This is the Sundial engine of Joe Thomas, national secretary of
the National Vintage Tractor & Engine Club of Great Britain.
Joe brought this engine back from Australia and ran it at 33
rallies and meets in 1978. He writes:

‘It was made in 1936 by the H. V. McKay, Sunshine Harvester
Co. Ltd., at Sunshine, Melbourne, Victoria. It is an open crank
type with crank guard and is 2 HP, side valve.

‘The plate on the side says Massey-Harris, H. V. McKay Ltd.,
but Massey’s had only that year combined with H. V. McKay who
like McCormick were pioneers from the very earliest days in
mechanical farm machinery and original header harvesters and made
Australia’s first combines when I drove them in the
1920s.’
