The Witte name is well known among old-engine fans. Based in Kansas City, Mo., the Witte Engine Works manufactured its first engine about 1885. The engine here, a throttling governor Type B of probably 5 HP, was featured in a Witte Engine Works catalog.
This image comes from a copy of a proof made for the 1923 catalog, which featured 40 pages of Witte engines and specifications, plus a detailed examination of the company’s manufacturing process.
A downloadable PDF of a separate Witte Engine Works catalog, item no. 3787, is available through Farm Collector Books.
