Pages from the Past: Associated Ad Found in an Old Trunk
Just as there are still long forgotten antique engines waiting to be found, so are there advertisements for those engines hiding in antique stores, forgotten bookshelves and even old trunks.
Long-time readers of Gas Engine Magazine might recognize the ad for Associated engine ad found in the image gallery from the June 1998 issue of Gas Engine Magazine. In light of this new feature, Jim Albatis, Ludington, Mich., decided to send in the ad again along with a scan of the other side, which features the Associated engine ad.
The ads are printed on both sides of a 24-inch by 18-inch piece of paper. Jim bought the piece at the 1996 Buckley Old Engine Swap Meet in Buckley, Mich., for $50 and says that it was found in a trunk in perfect condition.
If you have vintage advertisements or clippings featuring antique gas engines that you’d like to share, send a scan of your material to run in “Pages from the Past.” Contact Associate Editor Christian Williams at cwilliams@gasenginemagazine.com for more information.
