The second annual Buckeye Farm Antiques, Inc. Show, which was
held at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds, Wapakoneta, Ohio, was an
even bigger success than last year’s. The show more than
doubled, as 248 tractors were on display. Approximately 50 of these
were this year’s feature tractor, Allis Chalmers. 208 gas
engines and three steam engines were also on display.
One of this year’s new activities was the tractor rodeo,
held on Friday and Saturday evenings. This contest matched tractor
driver skills in wagon backing, hay rake maneuverability, and slow
race.
Many items were sold at the auction on Saturday afternoon.
Eleven antique tractors and many other various farm related
antiques were on the auction block. Thanks to Dennis Kohler, who
donated his auction services.
Also on Saturday afternoon, a lumberjack show was held. The
lumberjack show matched skills in log sawing and axe throwing.
An antique tractor pull was held on Sunday afternoon. The
popularity of this event was demonstrated by almost 100 tractors
participating.
In operation at this year’s show was the club’s U.S.
Standard corn husker-shredder. Also in operation was a sawmill and
shingle mill.
Many thanks to all who donated time and capital funds to make
this year’s show such a success. The 1992 show, which will be
held on May 22, 23, and 24, will feature Case tractors. Hope to see
everybody there.
