They came from 29 states and Canada and brought with them 2,495
gasoline engines, 372 tractors, 46 variety exhibits, 30 hot air
engines, and 7 steam engines. The 20th Anniversary Antique Engine
and Tractor Show, sponsored by the Tri-State Gas Engine &
Tractor Association, Inc. was held August 22-25, 1985 at the Jay
County Fairgrounds in Portland, Indiana. This 1985 show also hosted
the John Deere 2 Cylinder Club rally. In support of the rally the
372 tractors exhibited included 102 John Deeres, from the 3 wheel
drive John Deere Dain, the Waterloos, spoker Ds, and right up on
through the long green line.

Significant improvements for the 1985 show featured increased
exhibit space for tractors and gasoline engines and also an
enlarged camping area. The Trading Post again was a popular place
and exhibitors and visitors enjoyed the arts and crafts, antique
sales, sawmilling, threshing, good food and the evening
entertainment. The Tri-State’s 100 HP Fairbanks-Morse engine
was fired up several times daily.

With the support of our fine exhibitors and the thousands of
spectators we strive to continue to make the Tri-State Show one of
the largest and finest of its kind in the world. You are invited to
attend the 1986 show, August 21-24.
