A report from the Zanesville Ohio steam and gas engine show.

The Muskingum Valley Threshers Association of Zanesville held their first Ohio steam and gas engine show in 1963 at the Bowden Farm. At that show we
had only 2 steam engines and a number of gas tractors and gas
engines. All three days the machines were kept busy. We had
threshing, baling, and running the fan. Since then our show has
grown a little each year.

Our 1966 show, we thought; was the best year yet. We had 6 steam
traction engines, a good number of gas tractors and gas engines, a
saw mill, and several pieces of old farm machinery.

The steam engines and owners are as follows: 9 hp Case, W. C.
Dunlap, New Athens, Ohio; 12 hp Russell, Bill Waxier, Zanesville,
Ohio; 12 hp Peerless, Herbert Holmes, Moundsville, West Virginia;
14 hp Frick, Raymond Laizure, Cadiz, Ohio; 20 hp Russell, Charles
Harrison, Scio, Ohio; and a 24 hp Minneapolis, Lewis Dittoe,
Dresden, Ohio.

Activities included threshing, baling, saw milling, grinding
cornmeal on a stone burr mill and running the fan. A pony pull was
held on Saturday night.

Our thanks go out to the Stump-town Steam Threshers Club of
Cadiz, who helped to make our show successful. We also want to
thank Reverend Guy Smith, who was on hand to lead church services
Sunday morning, although we were not able to hold them due to
rain.

We are starting to plan for our 1967 show which will be August
11, 12 and 13th. Our show grounds are located on Muskingum county
road 64, between state routes 93 and 76. We want to extend a
cordial invitation to everyone to be with us then for what we hope
will be a bigger and better show.
