This year’s National Early Day Gas Engine & Tractor
Association Meeting and Show is promising to be a very interesting,
exciting event and Branch 10 members are busy gearing (belting?) up
for the big weekend.
The show will be held the weekend of June 23 and 24 at the
American Legion Park in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.
This year’s show will be in conjunction with the J. I. Case
Heritage Foundation and will feature Case tractors and equipment.
Because Oak Park is close to Racine, headquarters of Case
International and longtime home of Jerome Increase Case, the
Foundation considered it an excellent location.
Historical tours of Racine, Case plant sites, Mound Cemetery (J.
I.’s burial place) and other interesting points of Case history
are being arranged by the Foundation. An all day tour is planned
for Friday, June 22nd before Saturday’s show opening and a half
day tour will be offered on Sunday.
Sauder Historical Farm and Craft Village of Archbold, Ohio is
sending the ‘No. 25’ Case portable engine. This rare 1870
vintage engine is the oldest Case engine still operating, and will
be brought to the show by Mahlon Detter.
Stan and Katy Sill will bring their 1924 model X Case
roadster-the only Case roadster known to be operating other than
one in Australia.
Frank Hansen of Winona, Minnesota will bring his rare John Deere
tractor. This one-of-a-kind 4 cylinder, all wheel drive machine is
claimed to be the only model of the very first John Deere tractors
to have survived intact. Made in 1918, it is documented as the 79th
John Deere tractor built.
Oak Creek is located in southeastern Wisconsin, between
Milwaukee and Racine on the shores of Lake Michigan. Showgrounds
are just 2 miles east of I-94 off Ryan Road.
