The North East Regional Meeting hosted by Branch 33 of
Plainfield, Wisconsin, June 10-11, 1995, was a huge success. The
officers and members worked very hard to prepare for the show. As
you entered the grounds, you received a map of the park showing all
of the displays. Engines, tractors and various tents and displays
were all lined up. Branch 33 holds their show at the Veterans
Memorial Park in Plainfield.
As the show opened Saturday morning, it was raining. This gave
us time to go from tent to tent and visit and meet new friends. As
I walked up to the blacksmiths, John Berg and Gene Coyle, they were
making tent stakes to be used during the show. While there, I also
met Josh Kemnetz. Josh is a young man just out of high school and
was working with John and Gene to learn the black smith trade. Josh
was also involved with other activities of the show and is very
active in FFA in high school. It is good to see young people taking
part in our hobby. But, it is also good to see the adults take time
to teach our young members.
On behalf of the National, I would like to thank Branch 33 for
hosting the first regional show in the Northeast and for an
outstanding job. Also, a BIG THANKS to Jim Rowsam, Secretary of
Branch 33. Jim was a very busy man during the show and he also took
minutes during our regional meeting. Of the ten branches in the
Northeast Region, we had members from five branches in attendance
for our meeting.
Not a lot of news from the National at this time as everyone is
getting ready for the National Meet hosted by Branch 15 in Brooks,
Oregon, July 28-29-30, 1995.
The next Regional will be the Southeast Regional Show hosted by
Branch 28 at Cabool, Missouri, on August 10-11-12, 1995.
