We are happy to have a new branch in the state of Mississippi.
Branch 4 is located in the Tupelo, Mississippi, area. The president
is Huey Collins, Saltillo, Mississippi. Tony Turner worked very
hard setting things up so that they might join the National. Also
joining our association, is Branch 83 in Colorado. Lee Roy Rehor of
Vona, Colorado, serves as president.

As we enter into the 1997 show season, I thought this would be a
good time to talk about safety. One thing we need to remember is
that safety is everyone’s concern. Don’t depend on the
safety officer to watch for every little thing. As our shows get
bigger, it is too much for one person to monitor. The National
recommends that each display be roped off. Be careful where you
store your fuel. Do not leave an engine that is running unattended.
As we get younger members in our branches, we need to stress safety
to them, but at the same time, we who have been showing for a
number of years need to set an example of safety habits. Remember,
the younger members are watching to see if we follow our own
rules.

Enjoy a safe show season. I hope to meet you at one of the
Regional shows or the National.
