The Annual Northeast Nebraska Threshers Show and Reunion was
held September 27 and 28, 1969 at the Wm. J. Mayberry Farm. The
crowds and displays were bigger and better than the past with
antique cars from Yorktown, South Dakota, gas engines from near and
far and scale model steam engines steamed up and performing for
anyone that had time to stop and watch.

The sawmill was operated each day making lumber or boards for
the owner of the logs to take home and use on his ranch. It was
powered most of the time by the beautifully restored return flue
Huber.

The hand feed thresher with web stacker was operated each day
with six teams of Belgian mares that had baby colts on the grounds.
This gave the children a special sight to enjoy. The mares did a
good job furnishing the power to thresh a stack of oats.

The eight traction engines gave the eight antique tractors stiff
competition in the parade that was held each day. Different makes
of traction engines were: Case, Minnie, Aultman-Taylor, Advance
Rumely and Huber. The tractor lineup was Flour City, Avery Oil
Pull, Holt, Aultman-Taylor, Best, and Rock Island.

The antiques in and around the log cabin was of a larger display
this year.

Again the Niobrara organizations did a first rate job of feeding
the people in Mr. May berry’s large machine shed. It is large
enough for kitchen and dining area.

When Sunday evening came, everyone was tired after a successful
show and they all had a good time –so plan on attending next year
as it will be bigger and better than 69. See you in 70!
