Martin and Vera Riffle, of Warren, Ohio are sharing this month's cover with Martin's Schramm air compressor.

3231 Randolph Street, N.W., Warren, Ohio 44485

‘The picture was taken on September 12, 1981, following the
wedding reception and just prior to the honeymoon trip of the
former Miss Vera Nottingham and Mr. Martin Riffle, both of Warren,
Ohio. It seems that we hear so much of wives complaining about
their husbands chasing around looking for engines, spending
countless hours working on engines and hauling off their pride and
joys to engine shows on weekends, that this young couple may have
started out on the right foot.

Being fully aware and supportive of Martin’s hobby, Vera
consented to a picture-taking session with a gas engine. This was
all inspired by the picture published in G.E.M. of Mr. Andy Kruse
attired in a tuxedo taken with a gas engine on his son’s
wedding day. Following the picture-taking session with one of the
first 24 Schramm air compressors built, the newlyweds embarked on
their honeymoon. Their honeymoon took them to Sistersville, West
Virginia, to take part in the West Virginia Oil and Gas
Festival.

‘We their friends in the Warren area and the membership of
the Historical Engine Society, their home club, wish them the best
that life together can offer and that they may enjoy the hobby
together for countless years to come.’
