In late January 1994, Chuck Ayles and I bought a 1927 Wallis
tractor, Model 20-30, Serial No. 59532. We are members of the
Spallumcheen Pioneer Power Club, Vernon, British Columbia.
It was moved to the club workshop located at the Historic
O’Keefe Ranch near Vernon, BC, by fellow club member Jack
Peeling.
The before picture shows a tractor needing a lot of work!! We
were soon hard at work stripping the tractor for cleaning and
repair work with the help of several club members.
We found the engine to be in good condition. It was cleaned and
reassembled after a valve grind. Bearings were adjusted and a new
set of clutch linings and a pilot bearing completed the motor work.
We were fortunate to find a replacement radiator in eastern
Saskatchewan.
The ‘after’ picture was taken in June 1994. The Wallis
has been a regular at club events ever since. It was a prize winner
at the North Okanagan Plowing Association competitions in the
Antique Class.
The Wallis continues to generate a lot of interest at our shows
and makes all the hard work of restoration worth-while.
