THE BRIDGEWATER VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY SHOW
Route 1, Box 136, Bridgewater, Virginia 22812.
On July 13, 14, 15, 1972, our Third Annual Lawn Party, Steam and Gas Meet, Antique Car Show and two parades down Main Street of the town was held.
Steam traction engines exhibited: 50 HP E. B. Peerless owned by W. F. (Bill) Harper, Timberville, Virginia; 16 HP Peerless built 1906 owned by Paul Wicheal, Bridgewater, Virginia; 9 x 10 Frick built 1921 owned by Don and Rudolph Evers, Bridgewater; 50 HP E. B. Peerless built 1918 owned by Martin L. Good, Jr., Mt. Sidney, Va; 16 HP Peerless owned by Gilbert Purdam, Stanley, Va; 8? x 10 Frick built 1914 owned by Ralph Rhodes, Bridgewater; Mr. Sam Osborne, New Oxford, Pennsylvania exhibited a nice Russell traction engine.
Within the last year two portables were restored and exhibited at our show. An 18 HP Case owned by Steve Shirkey, Bridgewater; a Peerless 'G' owned by Stanley Evers, Dayton, Va; 8? x 10 Frick built 1920 owned by Harlan Singer, Mt. Salon, Va.
We had operating a 26 ton Erie Steam Shovel. It will remain at the show grounds and be operated at each show.
Eleven farm tractors were exhibited including 2 Oil Pulls, 4 McCormick Deerings, 3 Farmalls, 1 Hart Parr and 1 John Deere.
Eighty-six gas engines were on display, including a rare Meitz-Weiss.
Eighty-six antique cars were shown and paraded.
Again we know our show was a great success and are looking forward to the 1973 show as increasing in all types of exhibits.
Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Schaefer, Yoe, Pennsylvania visited our show, Mrs. Schaefer selling Iron-Men Album and Gas Engine Magazines, Mr. Schaefer showing his model gas engines.
Mr. Sam Osborne, New Oxford, Pennsylvania was the blacksmith, with Mr. R. O. Angle, Rocky Mount, Virginia making the anvil ring, when Mr. Sam was taking a rest.
Firemen, Ladies Auxiliary and non-members processed 172 country hams, 1200 lbs. hamburger into sandwiches.

My 3 HP Monitor horizontal engine. It has a battery and a buzzer coil for ignition, S. N. 1629, 450 R. P. M. It is in good running condition.
