The Antique Engine Association of Reidsville, North Carolina,
held its 17th annual show at the club show grounds located on
Highway 158 East, on April 25-26, 1998.

The 200-plus exhibitors displayed a fine group of tractors and
engines, along with a lot of ‘big boy toys.’ Since this is
one of the first shows in the area for the new season, all the
exhibits are freshly painted and show very few ‘show scars.

‘The show featured a working sawmill, shingle mill, wood
saw, wood splitting, corn mill, steam engine, and a 1940 120 HP
Fairbanks-Morse engine. All the exhibits are operated by the
80-plus members of the club, each hour of the show. A concession
stand is operated by members’ wives and provides a fine variety
of food. A kiddie train built by members is on the grounds for the
youngsters to ride and enjoy.

Over 100 tractors and dozers make up the midday parade of
power.

Country and bluegrass bands provide entertainment for the crowds
on Saturday. A church service and gospel music is featured on
Sunday morning. No admission is charged for any of these events,
with donations being the main source of income for the club.

Thanks to everyone who participated. Come see us again in
’99. The show dates this year are April 24-25, 1999.
