These are pictures of my Fairbanks-Morse Model 36A 4H Diesel engine. I restored this engine in 1995-96 using parts from three scrapped engines. It is a 4 cycle, runs at 1296 rpm and weighs 850 pounds. It has a 4 inch bore, 6 inch stroke, and develops about 10 horsepower. I was able to obtain some documentation from Fairbanks-Morse which indicated that this model was introduced in 1935 and was available in 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 cylinders. The single cylinder engine like mine is started with a hand crank, burning wick and compression release.
