Some Bessemer Literature
Recently, John Burns and I have been working together, locating some literature from the Reid and Bessemer companies in an effort to get some of the lesser-known information into the hands of oil field engine enthusiasts. We have been able to locate some very interesting "new-old-stuff" to share with our fellow hobbyists. Collectors I have spoken to are always eager to get hold of any information or literature they can about their beloved engines.
The amount of literature that has been copied and scanned into computer format so far is relatively small in comparison to the amount available to the researcher. Yet this is a very time-consuming process. I hope to be able to share more of this information with you in future issues of Gas Engine Magazine. This month I thought I would share with you an interesting excerpt from a 1916 Bessemer sales brochure.
Also, all of our readers and fellow engine enthusiasts are invited to attend our annual OFES dinner meeting, which will be held Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 7 p.m., at the Hearthstone Restaurant in historic Metamora, Ind. Cost is $16.95 per person.
A couple of suppliers have already donated door prizes for the dinner this year, including Burns & Horner Engine Co. of Warren, Mich., and also Oil Field Engine Parts LLC (O.E.P.) of New Carlisle, Ohio.
If you can join us for this good time of food and fellowship, please R.S.V.P. with the number in your party no later than March 23 at the contact below.
