I live in Bloomington, Minnesota, but I was born and raised in North Dakota on a farm near Strasburg. We had a hit and miss engine that we used for grinding feed for the hogs and other critters.

I never forgot the sound of the hit and miss engine. About fifty years later I've found a model E John Deere that was all in parts and bad shape.

I gathered all the information I could get my hands on and managed to restore it. I also found a burr grinder that I restored. I think it works real nice with my John Deere. Now I use it to grind feed for the birds that come into our yard, and again I can hear the sound of the hit and miss engine.

The cart is solid oak. It takes about a minute to belt up and start grinding.
