The Third Annual Van Buren Fly-wheelers Antique Engine and Tractor Show was held at the Van Buren Fairgrounds, Hartford, Michigan, September 5, 6, and 7, 1986. Good weather and large crowds prevailed throughout the weekend.
Approximately 160 exhibitors from Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Florida, and Connecticut, brought 300 gas and oil engines, 70 stationary and model steam engines, 65 antique tractors, 2 steam traction engines, 6 antique cars, and 12 hot air engines.
Everyone enjoyed the field exhibits of Corky Hubert's sawmill, Don Peck's thresher, the pony and mule pulls and pony rides, and the equipment display by the South Haven Armory, Michigan National Guard.
The outdoor antique market consisted of 75 venders from many states. There were 32 beautiful arts and crafts set-ups inside. The Trading Post had a steady flow of buyers and sellers.
A daily tractor and equipment parade, tractor slow races, games for the children, Friday night square dance, Saturday night live music and dancing, Sunday morning country gospel group, rounded out the weekend entertainment.
Thanks to everyone who made our 1986 show a huge success. Our 1987 show will again be held at the beautiful Van Buren Fairgrounds, Hartford, Michigan, on September 11, 12, and 13. Plan to attend.
