Rumsey Family Reunion

| December/January 1997

8670 Glasgow Road Cassadaga, New York 14718

The occasion, the annual Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association's Spring Gas-Up held May 10, 1997, at my place.

I am on the left with my 5 HP Rumsey engine, on the right is Tom Ball with his Rumsey.

These engines were made in Ripley, New York from 1902 to 1906. Pictured are two of the three known to exist.

More information about these very rare engines can be found in articles in the May 1987 and April 1997 GEM's.

The two men in the middle now enter the picture. On the left is Lewis Barnes. He is the son of Virginia Rumsey Barnes, the daughter of Arthur W. Rumsey, son of Charles B. Rumsey, founder of the company.
