Rough & Tumble Box 9 Kinzers, Pennsylvania 17535

On Thursday evening, August 15, 1991, of the 43rd annual Rough and Tumble Threshermen's Reunion, Kinzers, Pa., a children's Pedal Pull and a vintage (pre-1960) Tractor Pull were held. This was an unweighted fun pull, organized as a show to demonstrate a variety of makes, various types, different fuels with a mix of drivers (men, women and young adults) from 18 to 67 years of age.

The following makes were represented: Massey-Harris, John Deere, Ford/Fordson, McCormick-Deering/Farmall, Case, Minneapolis-Moline, Caterpillar, Peerless, Rumely and Oliver. Tractors pulled on steel wheels, hard rubber wheels, rubber tires and tracks.

Five of the drivers were pulling for the first time and nine of the tractors were being tried for the first time.

Tractors which didn't fit the pulling guidelines (due to drawbar height, tire size, weights, etc.) were permitted to make a demonstration pull. The sled was adjusted so as to get full travel of the weight box just before the end of the track (250 ft.). Group I started with one weight in the weight box and Group III-Demonstration ended with five weights, all using the same pan (small) on the sled for all classes so as to eliminate switching time. A west to east direction was used for the first time. The track was naturally moist due to a midday rain. The old sled was refurbished in winter of 90-91 for use at the '91 show.
