On July 15 and 16,1995, The Quinebaug Valley Engineers Association, Inc., EDGE&TA Branch 5, held their annual show at Norwich, Connecticut, in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Connecticut Antique Auto Auction/Exchange & Show sponsored by the Eastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce. The show featured a big flea market, tractors, engines, a car auction, and trucks, cars and motorcycles.
We had good weather the week prior to the show and the Quinebaug Valley Engineers did an excellent job getting the field ready. Friday evening tractors started coming in, and Saturday morning brought more tractors and lots of engines. Despite the hot temperatures in the 90's, we had around 85 exhibitors. To celebrate the 10th anniversary, we had Loctite giveaways both days. Every show car, truck, engine, tractor and motorcycle got a gallon container of Loctite hand cleaner. Every person who paid to come through the gate also received a Loctite product. In addition, each exhibitor and flea market vendor received a 10th anniversary commemorative battery bank with dash plaque. Also on Saturday they held the tractor parade, announced by Mark Maikshilo, and it was a big hit, as was the antique truck show and muscle car 'flame out' demonstration. There were approximately 250 flea market vendors. The auction had 40 to 50 cars. Food vendors were everywhere. On Sunday, Dale Earnhardt's Good wrench #3 show car, sponsored by Mallon Chevrolet, was on display. This certainly helped draw a lot of people to the show. There was just so much to see and do ! All this took place on a field of 37 to 40 acres.
Again, as President of The Quinebaug Valley Engineers Association, Inc., EDGE&TA Branch 5, I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to everyone who helped out and came to the show. A special thanks to all the out-of-towners who traveled the distance to attend and make the show such a success.
