PIONEER POWER SHOW

LeSueur County

| July/August 1994

Winsted, Minnesota 55395

The 20th annual LeSueur County Pioneer Power Show was held August 27, 28, and 29, 1993 on the club's permanent show grounds located six miles east of LeSueur, Minnesota.

The featured highlight for the '93 show was John Deere and the Central Minnesota Two Cylinder Club. The local Two Cylinder Club from Silver Lake, Minnesota, had a display in one of the large sheds. It was set up like an old John Deere dealership. As you entered under an authentic sign, you came to the service bay. There you could find a helpful guy who was grease up to his elbows. They had new and used equipment displayed, John Deere movies, toys for sale, literature for interested folks to read, and banners. The club has put together a video of plowing entitled 'One Day Last Fall.' Spectators could watch the movie on the spot and also purchase it along with other JD memorabilia.

Also on display you could find a replicated 1930s promotion. A John Deere Model AR tractor was set up on Coke bottles. John Deere used this advertising technique in the 1930s to show how smooth the Model AR ran. At the show you could see a large selection of different models of JD tractors and equipment that had been nicely restored. Many people went through the display and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Local fire departments are gathering funds to build a fire station to display their fire engines and equipment that had been used years ago. They used an old water tank to haul water to the steam engines at various places on the show grounds.

Along with the many displays the men enjoy, there are also numerous attractions for the ladies. There are demonstrations which include weaving and broom making. An old country store is filled with things to purchase. Items for sale include homemade jellies, jams, candies, home-grown flowers, fruits and vegetables, and many craft items. All are donated by members of Pioneer Power.
