The Pioneer Gas Engine Association, Inc., Fairville, New York held our annual reunion and show July 28-31, 1988. We had very hot but sunny weather making for a very successful show. We had 55 tractors, 101 engines, 21 miscellaneous exhibits and 1 steam engine on display. This was a substantial increase in participation over last year. We were very grateful for this increase in interest and participation. Many of these pieces of equipment were very well restored and were a delight to see.

Despite the hot weather we had many demonstrations going on through each day. Included were the saw mill, shingle mill, crate making, threshing, and more. It was a joy to put those old beauties to work and watch and listen to them do what was asked of them and a lot of reminiscence of the happy past for many of us. At the Friday noon parade we crowned the Queen of our show. At the same time we did something different, we also crowned a Prince instead of the usual Princess this year. Probably the highlight of our show is a fun antique tractor pull on Friday and Saturday nights. This is an enjoyable fun-time for both the young and older kids.

Plans are already under way for our '89 reunion and show. This will be a double celebration for us and we are hoping to improve our show for these events. This will be our 25th anniversary as a club and show. Also Wayne County, where we are located, is celebrating its 200th anniversary and there will be many activities involving this which we also plan to participate in.

We hope all of you Old Iron Fans have an enjoyable winter getting your equipment ready for next summer and we look forward to seeing all those old faces and hopefully many new ones at our show next summer.

The photo is of Tom Weis, Marion, New York, who is one of our directors, with his very nicely restored John Deere D. Standing on the tractor is his wife Debbie, who was this year's Queen, holding their youngest son, Josh. On the seat is their oldest son, Nick, who is following in his father's footsteps with his little J.D. Son Nick was our Prince.
