The Texas Early Day Tractor and Engine Association Annual Show was held October 6-7, 1990 at Temple, Texas. It was the first annual show at the newly opened permanent showground site of an organization that has been hosting annual shows for 20 years. This was the 'state meet' of the club that has statewide membership; when they get together for this annual event, it is quite a 'Texas gathering'!
The club obtained possession of the permanent showground site only a few months prior to the show, but by show time a large roofed structure and an ice cream parlor had been erected. Members 'working like ants' with dozers, their hands, and other equipment had showground and parking lot areas in very good condition by show weekend.
The future of the club and showground looks bright. The showground is 'right next to' Interstate Highway 35 and we hope to someday open this showground daily as a museum for traveling tourists. In the meantime, if you're passing through the middle of Texas on the first weekend of October, stop in and say 'Howdy,' see how the museum showground is progressing and visit with our members as they display and demonstrate their 'treasures from the good old days.' If you put your finger down on the middle of a Texas map you will have it on (or close to) our permanent showground- 'Deep In The Heart of Texas!'
