On June 4-6, UAW Local 662 hosted its ninth annual Antique Gas Engine and Tractor Show in Anderson, Indiana. From near and far people came to share their hobby. Whether it be Joyce and Albert Goethals, from Wallaceburg, Ontario, Local 251; Joe and Lorraine Drouin from Sarasota, Florida; or Richard Gasper, Local 662, from up the road, all joined together to make our show a success.

Exhibitors began setting up Friday. Soon the grounds were a 'sea of green' as the John Deere tractors began to take center stage, as that was our featured product line this year. You could also hear the whimsical chugging of the old gas engines, as they began to remind us of days gone by.

Saturday's festivities included a giant craft show and flea market. Bluegrass gospel, and country music had hands a-clappin' and toes a-stompin' as the Whiteriver Blue Grass and Folk Bands hosted a huge country music show. This show really draws a lot of bands, and the people really enjoy themselves. Quilting, good food, and other demonstrations were being enjoyed.

It was great to welcome all the visitors and exhibitors. Harold Brown, from Cookeville, Tennessee, won the long haul award, exhibiting his gas engine. Others came from Maine to Oregon, just because 'they wanted to see.'

We were extremely happy to welcome Orlin Teegardin from Ithaca, Michigan, a 53-year member of the UAW Local 652. Orlin exhibited his 1949 John Deere B tractor. We also were glad to meet members from Local 2357, from Fort Wayne, Indiana, with their special exhibit of Zollner pistons.
