The go kart industry returned to its Southern California birthplace at Kart Expo International, held February 4-5 in Riverside, California. The highlight of the show was the appearance of Ruth Ingels, wife of the late inventor of the go kart, Art Ingels. Mr. Ingels built the first go kart in 1956 in Glendale, California, which spawned a global-wide industry. At the show, Mrs. Ingels tirelessly signed autographs, chatted with karting enthusiasts and proudly displayed a collection of her husband's awards, photos and memorabilia, including the first go kart.

Exhibitors from around the country enjoyed brisk business at Kart Expo. The ever-increasing presence of overseas involvement in the American market was quite evident at the international exposition. Foreign karts at the show included Tibikart, Swift, Kuka Kart, Haase and Tony Kart. Attendees came from England, France, Greece, Italy, Australia, Germany, Philippines, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and Brazil.

Immediately following the show, the organizers of Kart Expo announced that the next event will be held October 28-29, 1995 at the Indiana Convention Center and Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Kart Expo International is the only event in the world that covers the entire karting industry: racing, fun and concession.
