The tenth annual Steam and Gas Show of the Cumberland Valley Antique Engine and Machinery Association was held August 7, 8, 9, 1992 at Twin Bridge Show grounds, west of Chambersburg, Pa.
This was the first show to be held on our own show grounds. Just four days before show day, we received approval of our building plans, and permits were issued. Three days later, our first building was under roof waiting to serve as a dining area for our show guests.
Machinery and visitors came from many areas, including Georgia and New Hampshire. With about 200 tractors and a similar number of engines registered, our grounds filled rapidly. A nice flea market and craft area were in operation during the three days. Four steam engines added a special thrill sawing wood and running threshing machines.
The 1992 show featured Ford tractors and equipment, so several Fordson, N series Fords and later models were shown. Also on display were several modern Ford tractors.
The C. V. Association owns several pieces of equipment, including a 16 HP Witte which was sold new to a local farmer. This engine performed flawlessly on the ensilage cutter.
Daily parades and kiddies' pedal tractor pulls enchanted the younger and older folks. Saturday and Sunday's parades lasted over an hour, and included gas tractors, steam engines, a Conestoga wagon and a few antique cars. Friday evening exhibitors brought their tractors to the 'Just For Fun' tractor pull. Saturday night saw many lucky bidders at the annual consignment auction.
We thank the many exhibitors who brought their machinery and those who came to look and enjoy. Join us again next year and bring your friends. We will feature John Deere tractors and equipment August 13-15, 1993.
