10139 Blomgren Road, Siren, Wisconsin 54872

This is a picture of an elevating grade or so called 'mucker.' They had one just like this one in 1929 and '30 when they built the highway from Grantsburg to Siren, Wisconsin. The fellow I bought it from towed it to my place from north west of Wahpeton, North Dakota, on steel wheels, with a four-wheel drive pickup, and I live 14 miles from the Minnesota border!

He has passed away now, and I never did get a chance to ask if he came down the freeway or which roads he took. When he got to Ogilvie, Minnesota, the front axle broke. He had to take the pole off and got a big wrecker from Milaca, Minnesota, to carry the front end to my home, but the back wheels rolled all the way to my place!
