Engines in Iraq

| September 2005

Staff Sgt. Chuck Mathews of the Arkansas National Guard, Company D, 1-153rd Infantry, 39th Infantry Brigade, sent Gas Engine Magazine these photos of himself with an Indian-made engine found in Iraq. It was in Saddam Hussein's palace complex in Baghdad where Chuck was stationed, and was said to have been part of Uday Hussein's private zoo. The Chinar diesel engine, coupled to a water pump near a lion cage (with lions), is rated at 8 HP at 850 RPM.
